02Materials & options
Gutter types and maintenance needs
Different gutter materials and guards need different care. Here's how we handle the most common setups in DFW.
- 01Aluminum Gutters
Lightweight, rust-resistant, and the most common. We clean carefully to avoid denting or bending the metal.
- Best for
- Most modern homes
- Lifespan / range
- Annual cleaning minimum
- 02Copper & Galvanized Steel
Heavier and longer-lasting, but can corrode if debris sits too long. We hand-clean and inspect seams.
- Best for
- Higher-end and historic homes
- Lifespan / range
- Annual or semi-annual
- 03Seamless Gutters
Fewer joints means fewer leaks, but corners and end caps still need attention. We check every seam.
- Best for
- Homes with long gutter runs
- Lifespan / range
- Annual cleaning
- 04Mesh / Screen Gutter Guards
Keep out large debris but small particles and shingle grit still get through. We brush and flush the screens.
- Best for
- Homes under trees
- Lifespan / range
- Annual maintenance
- 05Foam / Brush Inserts
Fill-style guards that trap debris on top. We remove, clean, and reinstall or recommend replacement when saturated.
- Best for
- Budget guard systems
- Lifespan / range
- As needed
03Choosing between options
Choosing between gutter service options
Match the service to how many trees you have and how your gutters are performing.
| Option | Pick if… | Why |
|---|---|---|
| One-Time Cleaning | Your gutters are overflowing or it's been over a year | Full clear-out and flush to restore flow and check for hidden problems. |
| Twice-Yearly Plan | You have moderate tree cover | Spring and fall cleanings keep gutters flowing through heavy rain and leaf drop. |
| Quarterly Plan | You're surrounded by oak, pecan, or pine trees | Prevents buildup before it becomes a clog, especially during pollen and seed drops. |
| Guard Maintenance | You already have gutter guards | Guards reduce debris but don't eliminate maintenance — we clean the guards and flush the system. |
Pro tip
Flush the downspout, not just the trough
A gutter can look empty while the downspout is packed with shingle grit and compacted leaves. We always flush from the top down and check the ground-level drain. If water isn't exiting freely at the bottom, the system isn't clean — no matter how shiny the gutter looks.

06Ask a pro
Real answers from our crew.
Gutter questions we answer on ladders across DFW.
- QHow often should gutters be cleaned?
- Most homes need cleaning at least once a year. Homes with heavy tree cover need twice a year or quarterly. If water overflows during rain, they're already overdue.
- QDo gutter guards eliminate cleaning?
- No. Guards reduce debris but still need maintenance. Small particles, shingle grit, and seeds get through or sit on top.
- QCan you clean gutters without walking on the roof?
- Usually yes. We work from ladders and use poles/vacuums. We avoid roof walking unless absolutely necessary and safe.
- QWhat happens if a downspout is clogged?
- We snake or flush it from the top and bottom. If it's packed solid, we may disassemble the elbow to clear it completely.
- QWill you tell me if my gutters need repair?
- Yes. We note sagging, separated seams, missing fasteners, and pitch issues. We can handle minor repairs or refer larger gutter work.
- QIs gutter cleaning messy?
- We bag debris and blow off the ground below. Our goal is to leave the gutters and the area around them cleaner than we found them.
