Common fixes and the right approach

Handyman work covers a wide range. Here's how we handle the jobs we get called for most often.

  • 01
    Door & Hardware Adjustments

Sticking doors, loose hinges, misaligned latches, and new locksets. We plane, shim, or replace hardware as needed.

    Best for
    Interior and exterior doors
    Lifespan / range
    1–2 hours typical
  • 02
    Wall Mounting

TVs, shelves, mirrors, and art mounted to studs or with proper anchors. We find studs, level, and hide cords when possible.

    Best for
    Living rooms, bedrooms, offices
    Lifespan / range
    Per item
  • 03
    Minor Plumbing

Leaky faucets, running toilets, shut-off valves, and fixture swaps. We don't move pipes, but we stop the drips.

    Best for
    Bathrooms and kitchens
    Lifespan / range
    1–3 hours typical
  • 04
    Electrical Swaps

Light fixtures, ceiling fans, outlets, and switches. We turn off breakers, test, and install to code.

    Best for
    Replacements using existing wiring
    Lifespan / range
    Per fixture
  • 05
    Drywall & Paint Touch-Up

Patch holes, repair corners, texture match, and paint blend so the repair disappears.

    Best for
    Post-damage walls and nail holes
    Lifespan / range
    Varies by size

03Choosing between options

Choosing between handyman options

Not sure if you need a handyman or a specialist? Here's the line we draw.

OptionPick if…Why
Single-Item VisitYou have one specific repair or installBook by the hour for a focused job — no minimum project size.
Half-Day Punch ListYou have 3–5 small jobs waitingCheaper per job than booking separately; we knock out the list in one visit.
Full-Day ProjectYou have a larger install or multiple roomsBest for bigger assembly, mounting, or repair work that needs dedicated time.
Specialist ReferralThe job involves plumbing lines, electrical panels, or structural workWe refer to licensed plumbers, electricians, or contractors when code and safety require it.

Pro tip

Use the right anchor for the weight

A plastic wall anchor in drywall will fail under a heavy mirror or TV. We always find a stud for heavy loads or use toggle bolts when studs aren't available. The extra five minutes is what keeps your mounted TV on the wall for years.

06Ask a pro

Real answers from our crew.

Handyman questions we answer before we pick up a drill.

QWhat jobs do you handle vs. a licensed contractor?
We handle repairs, installs, assembly, and cosmetic work. For moving plumbing lines, electrical panels, load-bearing walls, or full remodels, we refer to the appropriate licensed specialist.
QDo you charge by the hour or by the job?
We can do either. Small jobs are hourly; larger punch lists get a flat half-day or full-day rate so you know the cost upfront.
QCan you mount my TV and hide the cords?
Yes, as long as there's a safe path. We find studs, use proper anchors, and conceal cords with in-wall kits or raceways where appropriate.
QDo I need to buy materials?
You can, or we can pick up standard hardware and bill it back. We'll tell you exactly what's needed before we start.
QHow do I prepare for a handyman visit?
Clear the work area and make a list. Photos help us quote accurately and bring the right parts on the first trip.
QIs there a minimum charge?
Yes, we have a one-hour minimum. After that, time is billed in smaller increments so you don't overpay for quick jobs.
